What does it mean to be selected as an

ASLA Game Changer?

The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) puts out a call each summer for bold, data-driven ideas that are helping shape a more climate-smart, equitable, and resilient future. The competition seeks ideas that reflect the ASLA Climate Action Plan and use performance metrics—carbon, biodiversity, equity, or others—to show real impact. They want to see ideas focused on performance metrics that could be measuring carbon, equity, biodiversity, or another metric. Submitters are asked to share the innovative tools they are developing to drive climate-positive outcomes. The selected 2025 Game Changers are then invited to give fast-paced, 10-minute presentations at the Annual Conference on Landscape Architecture in New Orleans in October.

In July 2025, Janet submitted this idea to the competition.

She’s in!  Janet was selected as a finalist and after a round of social media voting, advanced as a Game Changer along with 8 others to present at the National Conference in New Orleans on Oct 12, 2025!  All 9 talks promise to inspire and provoke. One will be chosen by the jury as the 2025 winner.  Janet looks forward to sharing and learning from all of the Game Changers in October.  After the conference, she will post the winner and her insights from the presentations.
